Care Certificate Training
The Care Certificate
The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors.
Developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health. The Care Certificate is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are ‘new to care’ and should form part of a robust induction programme.
Skills for Care
The Care Certificate is a practically assessed qualification. It is not possible to achieve the Care Certificate through completion of e-learning or completing a workbook alone. Whilst e-learning or workbooks can certainly support the acquisition of knowledge and the assessment of knowledge, the assessment of
the required skills must be undertaken in the workplace unless simulation is explicitly allowed. An example of this is the First Aid module where Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) practice and Assessment has to be don in a manikin made for the purpose.
There is, however plenty of scope for online learning, followed by practical assessment. This website summarises each of the Care Certificate modules and provides links to suitable online training modules.
